Say No to Plastic

From the moment you wake up and wash your face in the morning, your beauty routine could be harming the environment.

Let us find out how??

What are microbeads?

Microbeads are tiny spheres of plastic measuring one micrometer to 5mm. They are added as an exfoliating agent to more than 100 cosmetics and personal care products, such as soap, facial scrub and toothpastes, since their introduction in 1972.

After you wash your face or clean your teeth, the microbeads go down the plughole and pass through water filtration systems because they are so tiny.

These microbeads then end up in the sea where they are ingested by fish and harm marine life. Plastic particles have been found in fish, shellfish and even the stomachs of birds.

Greenpeace says: “Microbeads end up in humans through toothpaste and through eating seafood that has ingested microplastics and the toxins that come with them.”

UK banned products with microbeads.

Aloe Vera Gelly

Aloe Vera

When you extract the gel from an aloe plant at home one of the biggest challenges is storing the extra gel effectively. The biggest drawback to this is that you don’t always use all the gel you obtain, wasting large quantities.

Phytochemistry of aloe vera gel has revealed the presence of more than 200 bioactive enzymes, so you need appropriate processing techniques to look into safety and ensure toxicological aspect of the inner gel for food and applications.

Forever Aloe Gelly

Forever Aloe Gelly is the only 100% stabilized aloe gel in the market today, approved by the International Aloe Science Council. It is also called ‘Aloe plant in tube’ due to its essentially identical aloe vera’s inner leaf (gel) impression & properties.

-Skins best friend.

-Soothes, calms & nourishes.

-Safe to use anywhere you can reach.

Physical sunscreen

Physical sunscreens have active mineral elements found on Earth, ZINC OXIDE and TITANIUM OXIDE which act as scatterers or reflectors of UV light as a mirror, forming barrier on the skin, shielding you from both UVB rays, which cause sunburn, and UVA rays, which penetrate more deeply and may be more dangerous causing early aging, hyper pigmentation & risks of skin cancer.

The SPF of the sunscreen does not measure its protection against UVA rays— only UVB rays. It is a measurement of the difference between the amount of sunlight that causes redness in sunscreen-protected skin and the amount that causes redness in unprotected skin.

A sunscreen with a SPF of 15 conceptually gives you 15 times the minutes to stay out before your skin starts burning.

Example: if you usually burn in 10 minutes, and you apply SPF 15 lotion, you can stay out for 150 minutes.

Some problems with this equation is that it makes people believe a SPF of 30 would allow them to remain twice as long in the sun as SPF 15. Infact a SPF 15 blocks about 93% of UVB rays, while an SPF 30 blocks about 97%, and an SPF 50 about 98%. So going higher in SPF doesn’t provide more protection after a certain point.

Vaginal discharge

Ver basic post on one of the most common women condition, Vaginal discharge.

Its reason varies from one individual to other. If simply said, there are two kinds of virginal discharge,

– Yeast/fungal or bacterial infection.

I won’t elaborate much but this condition leads to inflammation and itching at the sensitive part. Doctors consultation is must.

– Second is general discharge & many women facing it these days.

In this there is no pain, inflammation or itching, only watery or semi fluid kind of discharge with fishy odor.

Some ladies have it occasionally and some regularly.

Occasionally discharge occurs when the time of ovulation approaches or after sex. This is normal.

Regular discharge affects individuals who are diabetic, has a weak immune system, poor eating habits, hormonal imbalance, etc.

Here you need to maintain good hygiene and try to work for good and healthy body/lifestyle.

Some important measures you need to start practicing are:

1- Start using intimate washes at least 1-2 times a day.

2- Pat dry your area every time you visit loo.

But make sure you pat from front to back and not back to front. (Wiping from back to front can bring bacteria from the rectum toward the urethra and increase your chances of a urinary tract infection.)

3- DO NOT use deodorant or fragrance at or near to your sensitive areas.

4- Stay hydrated.

5- Wear cotton panties.

6- Use panty liners to avoid smell and often changing of your underwear.

7- The most important is, CONSIDER PROBIOTICS supplements.

8- Consumption of Important ANTIOXIDANTS like,

•Cranberry

•Apple

•Avacado

•Sweet potatoes

•Soy

•Green leafy vegetables

And last but not the least…LADIES PLS add more of Calcium, Vitamin E, Omega-3, Zinc, Iron, Iodine, Magnesium & Selenium in your diet.

There are certain minerals & vitamins which cannot be consumed in adequate amount from food alone. So add some dietary supplements to life, specially once you reach your 30s.

UVA & UVB protecting Sunscreen

UVB where B stands for ‘Burning’

UVA where A stands for ‘Aging’

There are potential downsides to using products with very high SPFs.

First, above SPF 50 (which blocks an estimated 98 percent of UVB rays), the increase in UVB protection is minimal. Second, although UVA protection is also important (UVA not only accelerates skin aging, but contributes to and may even initiate skin cancers), SPFs mainly measure UVB protection. Individuals applying high-SPF sunscreens may not burn (UVB is the chief cause of sunburn), but without UVA-screening ingredients they can still receive large amounts of skin-damaging radiation.

The importance of using both UVB and UVA protection cannot be emphasized enough. For consumers who really wish to know “how high should I go?” I (Dr Wang) suggest products with SPFs no lower than 30 and no higher than 50.

(Dr. Wang is director of dermatologic surgery and dermatology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center at Basking Ridge, NJ.

Dr. Wang is a member of The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Photobiology Committee.)

Products details:

• High SPF for more sun protection

• Strong, water resistant formula which retains its SPF up to 40 minutes after water activity

• Moisturizes skin to prolong your tan

• Safe and gentle enough for children

Everything seems better when the sun shines, but this ‘silver lining’ brings its own cloud! With today’s knowledge of the dangers of over-exposure to the sun, we seek only the highest quality sun protection products available.

Aloe Sunscreen provides just that! Combining modern science with natural ingredients, this effective sunscreen helps to soothe, lubricate, moisturize and protect the skin against sun damage. With an SPF of 30, Aloe Sunscreen blocks both UVA and UVB rays, while this silky, smooth lotion made with pure stabilized Aloe Vera Gel, rich moisturizers and humectants, maintains the skin’s natural moisture balance.

Application:

Apply liberally to all exposed areas 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, at least every 2 hours.
